Meethi Puri

Meethi puri or dahi puri is a famous Pakistani street snack. Sold on street carts of almost every famous neighborhood, this snack is a flavor bomb. Depending on which part of the town you are this appetizer has a slightly different flavor depending on the chutneys used to make the final plate.  The part of the town I belong to, this snack had a spicy green chutney, a tangy tamarind date chutney, a sweet n spicy red chutney and finally topped with sweet yogurt to bring tie everything together. I have very fond memories related to this particular snack from when i was a young girl. A young man in his early 20’s would push his street cart for miles on every tuesday and would land in our neighborhood around 7:30 8:00 pm after serving his regular clients at his regular spot. Right when he entered our street he would alert the patron with a bell that was attached under to a rope under his cart by pulling it.  I remember being around 8 or 9 years old running with a plate from our home to the main gate of our residence just to wait in a line to get me a delicious plate of meethi puri with the money I had saved from my daily lunch money for days. Even though years have gone by but the memory is still fresh in my mind like it was yesterday!

Today I am sharing a recipe with you that’s very close to my heart. I hope you enjoy this meethi puri recipe just as much as we do at our home. It’s perfect on a rainy day with a piping hot cup of chai. The delicious chutneys are perfect to use for dipping your favorite savory snacks like pakoras, samosa and egg rolls.
